Peugeot 108 (14 - Present)

Replacing the 107, the new littlest Peugeot is the small car with big boots to fill. It also happens to be part of a set of motoring triplets, sharing it’s chassis with the Toyota Aygo and the Citroen C1, so it’s also got stiff competition to beat off in the shape of its siblings. So how does it live up to all this pressure? Pretty well actually. The 108 has definitely got the most reserved styling of the trio, which will broaden its appeal to a wider audience, and somehow it manages to have more of a ‘big car’ feel to it which we think was Peugeot’s goal here. But that’s not to say it’s boring either – the interior feels modern and fresh and the optional styling themes will lead to some very interesting combinations in the used market. Like the Citroen C1, it also comes in both a 1.0 and 1.2 litre petrol engine, both of which have minimal running costs and will suit a city driver down to the ground.

Look out for

  • Design means it can be very easy to kerb the wheel trims. Be careful

What we like

  • Styling is mature and less ‘cutesy’ than its peers
  • Surprisingly spacious inside
  • Comes with the choice of a larger engine
  • Cheap to buy and run
  • Tiny turning circle and light steering make parking easy

What we don't like

  • We’re not fans of the pop-out windows in the back
